Honoring the Life and Legacy of Gary Kitchell

Dear Friends,

We are deeply saddened to share the news of the passing of Gary Denton Kitchell, a cherished member of our tennis community and a dear friend to so many. Gary passed away peacefully on May 18, 2025, just days before his 72nd birthday, surrounded by the love of his family.

To know Gary was to know passion, kindness, and an unwavering dedication to others. He touched the lives of so many as a friend, a player, a caregiver, and a mentor. Whether it was through his healing hands or his infectious energy on and off the court, Gary inspired us all with his will to never give up.

Gary’s remarkable career in sports rehabilitation and tennis took him around the world. He worked with some of the greatest athletes in the game. Yet, it was his quiet generosity and deep belief in giving back that left a lasting mark here in Indian River County. Through a generous gift from his foundation to ours, Gary’s legacy will continue to uplift young athletes by helping them afford the opportunity to compete in tournaments and grow their love for the game.

We are incredibly grateful for his support, his friendship, and his vision for the future of tennis. His impact will continue to be felt for generations to come.
